G.S.P Troy Gold Plating Kit for Brush Plating and Mini Tanking
The G.S.P Troy Gold Plating Kit is an ideal mid-range kit for those who wish to be able to brush plate objects up to the size of a standard kettle. It is also perfect for successfully mini-tanking smaller individual items up to the size of a coin, a very advantageous approach, as you can ensure even coverage across the item and can complete the job much more quickly.
The kit comes complete with enough chemicals to work on a wide variety of metals, and is portable and versatile, allowing you to plate a range of items brought to you or in situ. Examples include plating car badges that are still on the car, taps that are still installed, along with other kitchen and bathroom fittings and other items that are fixed in place. If you repair / refurbish handbags, this kit will allow you to plate a range of handbag hardware such as clasps, badges and more in a luxurious gold plated finish.
You can also plate a variety of small jewellery* items such as rings, pendants, and trinkets.
The G.S.P Troy contains the small but powerful 2.25A Portable Plating Plug, which will allow you to plate with all available plating solutions, including rhodium and platinum. Because this kit allows you to brush plate, pen plate, and mini tank, it is incredibly adaptable and offers you the ability to get a variety of jobs done.
When over plating certain metals such as copper, silver, or brass, you will benefit from the inclusion of nickel and copper in this kit, the use of which will enhance the lifespan of your chosen finish by preventing migration, ensuring a thorough job.
If you are looking for an accessible and cost-efficient kit centred around brush-plating and mini-tanking, the G.S.P Troy Gold Plating Kit is a great choice. The kit comes as standard with 100ml G.S.P 24K Gold Solution and 100ml G.S.P Silver Solution. If you prefer to plate in an alternative precious metal finish, the kit comes in other variations - please see our other listings.
Your kit also comes complete with our 5 Point Support Package.
Please note: if you are looking to tank plate larger items, plate onto aluminium, mild steel, or plate onto non-conductive surfaces such as plastic, please see the products listed in the G.S.P Recruit / G.S.P Prodigy range.
*If you have items made of copper, silver or brass which are intended to be worn as jewellery, then you will need to additionally purchase palladium plating solution to prevent migration, since nickel cannot be used in jewellery due to the potential of allergies.

Brush Plating
Here is a brief overview of the brush plating process:
Step 1: Clean / polish the item to be plated.
Step 2: If the item is chrome plated, strip the chrome with G.S.P Chrome Stripper which takes between 1-15 minutes and then rinse. If the item is nickel or stainless steel, brush over with the appropriate activator for a few seconds and then rinse.
Step 3: Brush the gold or other metal solution of your choice over and over, building up thickness as you go. Do this for between 2-20 minutes depending on the size of the item and then rinse / dry.
Step 4: Rub G.S.P Gold Polish over the item and then wipe off to bring out the final shine.
Please note: You do not always apply precious metals directly over the original substrate, it depends on what that metal is.
Examples include - copper would need to be plated with G.S.P Nickel Plating Solution first, this would be followed by using G.S.P Nickel Activator, then the piece could be gold plated or plated in your chosen precious metal.
Brass would be plated with G.S.P Copper Strike, then with G.S.P Nickel Plating Solution, followed by G.S.P Nickel Activator and the piece could then be gold-plated or plated in your chosen precious metal.
