It comes with all chemicals required to deal with all metal and non-conductive surfaces. The kit is ideal for jewellers and those looking to plate on a variety of surfaces such as plastic e.g. game controllers, 3D printed surfaces, wood, and other organic materials such as leaves, stones and flowers. The options are almost limitless and allow for elite creativity, our clients have included film studios who have used our kits for the creation of props.

Of course, this kit is also perfect for general electroplating, suiting those that simply wish to plate existing metal items in a range of different finishes.

The kit benefits from our Mirror-Tech System™ which produces a flawless plated finish, with no need for polishing and comes complete with our 5 Point Support Package.

Please note:

*The style/colour/appearance of the included SmartAmp Plating Machine may vary from the photograph, this does not affect the functioning/technical specifications of the product.

*When plating directly over a small number of metals - silver, copper, brass and zinc, a barrier plate of nickel is required to prevent deterioration of the final gold plated finish. Nickel plating solution is included in this kit and is suitable for the vast majority of applications. The exception is jewellery as nickel can cause allergies. In this case, Palladium Plating Solution (not included) will be required for use instead when gold plating onto jewellery with silver, copper, brass or zinc at the surface. If you are unsure, please enquire before purchase to check if the jewellery you will be plating will require this.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the differences between the G.S.P Prodigy 1.0, G.S.P Prodigy 5.0, and G.S.P Prodigy 10.0 Electroforming Kits?

The G.S.P Prodigy 1.0 is our smallest size kit in the Prodigy Range and comes with 1 litre of each of the supplied chemicals and 1-litre sized tanks.

The G.S.P Prodigy 5.0 comes with 5 litres of each of the supplied chemicals and 5-litre sized tanks - this kit also comes with more anodes to fit those tanks.

The G.S.P Prodigy 10.0 is our largest size kit in the range and comes with 10-litres of each of the supplied chemicals and 10-litre sized tanks. Again, this kit comes with even more anodes to fit the larger size of the tanks.

With all of the kits in this range, you are supplied with a G.S.P 10A SmartAmp Plating Machine which is powerful enough to electroform items with a maximum surface area of 274cm2 whilst maintaining a mirror-shiny finish, if the correct amount of plating solution, correct sized tanks and correct anodes are used. This machine can also brush plate up to any size and can tank plate up to 1000cm2 (2000cm2 for silver or rose gold).

What is the benefit of choosing a G.S.P Prodigy 5.0 kit over a G.S.P Prodigy 1.0 kit?

Whilst the machine supplied with all kits in the range is capable of plating items with a maximum surface area of 274cm, the size of your tanks will dictate the maximum size of items that can be plated with your kit and how many of these items can be plated in one go.

With larger tank sizes, not only can larger items be plated, but you have the flexibility of plating more items at the same time. This saves time and is much more efficient, particularly if you are using your kit as part of a business where the turnover of plating needs to be prompt.

The larger your kit, the more options it affords.

Can I just buy a G.S.P Prodigy 1.0 kit and then buy separate 5-litre sized tanks to create a larger kit?

Whilst you can start out with a G.S.P Prodigy 1.0 kit and later progress to buying larger tanks to plate larger items, those tanks must be filled with the correct amount of plating chemicals and must be fitted with the correct sized anodes for plating to work.

For example, if you purchased 5-litre sized tanks and filled them with 1 litre of the required solutions, plating could not occur because the item you are placing in the tank needs to be fully submerged in the solution. This means that in order to plate in 5-litre tanks, you would need to fill your tanks with 5 litres of each of the plating chemicals to ensure complete coverage of any item that is submerged in any of the tanks.

Once filled, these tanks can be used over and over to plate potentially hundreds/thousands of items (dependant on size) but they have to contain the correct amount of chemicals to do the job.

Additionally, the size of the required anodes increases along with the tank size, so anodes that fit a 1-litre tank will not be suitable for a 5-litre tank.
