There are a few special considerations when plating silver jewellery in gold.
Silver has a tendency to cause migration of the top coat. This means that over time, the 24k gold plated finish will sink into the silver base metal causing discolouration. To avoid this, a thin layer of Palladium Plating Solution should be applied before plating the gold, this creates a barrier and stops migration, leaving you with the perfect plated finish!
Nickel ( which is usually used in barrier plating ) cannot be used when plating jewellery as it causes allergic reactions, palladium is a perfectly safe alternative and is permitted in EU law for the plating of jewellery.
This value pack offers a lower-cost way of purchasing the essential chemicals needed for gold plating silver jewellery – we have included 100ml volumes of the plating chemicals to save jewellers buying bulk amounts in one go. Buying this pack represents a 5% saving versus buying each solution separately.
250ml Electrocleaner is included to ensure that your jewellery pieces come out with a flawless finish.
Please note: these solutions are pre-made, cannot be diluted and are intended for use in small plating pots (mini-tanking) where rings. earrings and other small accessories are plated individually or in very small batches dependent on surface area. You will require a suitable plating machine to use the plating solutions and the correct type of anodes - please enquire for details. For plating multiple pieces of jewellery in one go or for plating items larger than rings, larger tanks and larger volumes of each solution are required.
All of our gold plating solutions contain ethically mined gold and certification can be provided upon request.
