G.S.P Nickel Plating Solution
- Overview of use:
Instructions for use of:
G.S.P Nickel Plating Solution
Pen plating:
4 volts
Brush plating:
4 volts
Tank plating:
0.01-0.02 amps per cm2
Additional notes:
If the solution is being used as a nickel barrier plate, 2 minutes in the tank should be sufficient.
If the solution is being used to nickel plate aluminium (after the G.S.P AllyCu stage), tank plate for 40 minutes and because the solution is part of our Mirror-Tech system, will produce its own shine.
For tanks that are 5 litres or over, it is beneficial to have the solution heated to 40 degrees Celsius. Agitation is also recommended.

Our G.S.P Nickel Plating Solution is essential for plating over certain metals such as copper, brass, bronze, and silver. These metals are known to defuse through the top plate, causing a visible discoloration, but if a barrier plate of nickel is applied, then your chosen finish will maintain its shine without any risk of this happening.
As part of our Mirror-Tech range, the G.S.P Nickel Plating Solution has the ability, when tank plated using our 10A SmartAmp Plating Machine, to create its own mirror finish without relying on a highly polished substrate. This is utilised most, when plating nickel over aluminium which has been prepared with our G.S.P AllyCu Solution. It is also a vital factor in electroforming, as this always includes copper and therefore will require a nickel barrier plate. The solution does not require heating, though larger tanks (above 5 litres) will benefit from a heater.
For optimum performance, tank plate with our Nickel Anodes or brush plate with our G.S.P Brush Plating Probes.
Please note: nickel cannot be used as a barrier plate on items that will be close to the skin, as it is known to cause skin allergies. For jewellery items, we recommend using our G.S.P Palladium Solution instead.
