What is classed as Professional / Business Use?
This applies to products purchased for professional use (e.g. research, universities) or business use.
- Business Scale: This includes small businesses; you do not need to be VAT-registered to qualify.
- Home Businesses: This includes individuals working from home, provided they have a dedicated workspace that complies with all safety requirements for the solutions purchased.

Note: If a product is not marked as Professional Use Only, it is suitable for general public use. However, these products may still carry hazard labels and must be responsibly used, stored, and disposed of as instructed. Professional Use Only products are strictly unavailable to the general public.
Purchase and Delivery Restrictions
Gold Solutions Plating enforces these restrictions in accordance with our legal obligations as a supplier to ensure only authorised individuals or businesses acquire and use these materials.
- Business Details: A valid business name and address relevant to the use of these materials must be supplied at checkout.
- Delivery Addresses: Regulated substances must be delivered to a business address. They cannot be delivered to purely residential premises (if you work from home, we will ask you to confirm that your residential property is also a place of business).
- Excluded Addresses: We do not ship to Parcel Lockers or PO Boxes.
Customer Verification Process
Customers purchasing restricted products will be contacted via email after a sale or during the enquiry process and requested to complete a Professional Use Form. In addition, purchasers must provide photo identification for the individual buying on behalf of the business.
- Frequency: In accordance with regulations, we only require this form and ID check once every 18 months per customer account.
- Order Dispatch: We aim to review and process your documentation immediately upon receipt to ensure a quick turnaround. Under normal circumstances, this compliance check will not delay the scheduled dispatch date of your order.
Why do we verify customers and collect this data?
These checks are mandatory under current government regulations for companies selling specific chemical plating solutions. We must collect this data by law to remain compliant within our industry. These checks do not apply to our entire product range, only to items specifically marked as Professional Use.
We treat data security with the utmost seriousness:
- Secure Storage: All submitted information is encrypted, stored on a secure server, and processed in line with GDPR policy.
- Strict Retention: Data will be securely retained for a minimum period of 18 months as required by government regulations.
- Secure Submission: We actively encourage customers to send photo ID via password-protected files and share the password through a separate channel to guarantee compliance with security regulations. Company Rights and Responsibilities
Gold Solutions Plating reserves the right to cancel any transaction without warning if the purchaser offers clear evidence that the items are intended for general public use, or if the purchaser cannot successfully complete the required ID and compliance check.

By completing a purchase, the buyer confirms that the product will be used in a professional or business capacity.
